Markus Schopp sacked at Barnsley

Markus Schopp is no longer coach of Barnsley FC. The English second division club made the announcement on Monday.

Markus Schopp is out of his job as coach of the English second division club Barnsley FC A series of seven defeats has been the Styrians undoing. The club confirmed a report to that effect by “The Athletic” on Monday.

Schopp only took up the job in June as successor to former LASK coach Valerien Ismael after three years at Hartberg. His contract at Barnsley would have run until summer 2024.

Joseph Laumann takes over on an interim basis

After only eight points (one win) in 15 games, last year’s promotion aspirants Barnsley find themselves in acute relegation trouble. The current co-coach Joseph Laumann is to bring the club back to success on an interim basis.
