Tatjana Maria continues to search for form in the new year. The 38-year-old tennis player from Bad Saulgau was eliminated in the first round of a WTA tournament for the fourth time in a row in Merida, Spain. The German number two lost 6-7 (3-7), 3-6 to eighth-seeded Magda Linette of Poland.
Maria’s only victories so far this year came in Hobart and Manila in January, but she failed to make it past the second round in Australia and the Philippines. She also bowed out after the first round at the Australian Open.
