Main prize: ADAC GT Masters eSports Champion completes GT4 test day

As a reward for his victory in the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship 2022, Christopher Högfeldt completed a test in a GT4 race car

Sim racer Christopher Högfeldt was able to cash in his main prize for the title in the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship 2022 last month. In addition to 7,500 euros in prize money, the Swede had the opportunity to complete a test day in Oschersleben with a GT4 racing car from Team Speedmonkeys.

Högfeldt, who has never sat in a real race car before, completed a total of 30 laps in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 at the Oschersleben circuit. “I drove GT4 cars in the simulator at Oschersleben. I think that was the best way to prepare myself,” says the e-sport pro.

In the first laps he took it slowly and tried to get used to the car first. “It’s basically just like in the simulator, but you have to get used to the G-forces,” the Swede noted.

As the test progressed, he steadily improved, was able to implement the feedback from the engineers and improved his time lap by lap. At the end of the test day, the Swede was 1.5 seconds off the ADAC GT4 Germany pole time, a very respectable performance on used tyres.

“He’s not the first sim racer to sit in the car with us, and he really did a very good job,” Speedmonkeys team boss Christian Bracke records after the test day. “I’m very pleased with how quickly he’s adapting the things he’s been told and shown in coaching. The bottom line is that he can be happy with his performance for never having been in a car before.”

“It was a great day,” says Högfeldt after his debut in the race car. “I like sim racing almost as much, but this is the next level. I think the preparation in the simulator is an important part of real racing. “
