Ludwigsburg: Ex-NBA pro Garrett comes – Johnson fails medical check

Shortly after the start of training, Markell Johnson had to say goodbye to the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. However, the Basketball-Bundesliga club was able to close the gap quickly

Johnson was actually scheduled to play for the Swabians. But after the US-American had already missed the start of training because some test results of the obligatory medical check were not available, it is now certain: The 23-year-old guard will not play for Ludwigsburg at all because he did not pass the medical examinations.

But the Giants were only able to get a replacement within a few hours. Billy Garrett brings NBA experience with him to the Baroque city. The 1.98 metre tall guard comes from Chicago and played four games for the New York Knicks in 2019. After playing in France and Greece, he won the G-League with the Lakeland Magic in 2021. He last played in Poland and will now move to the BBL.

“Billy adds depth to our backcourt,” Ludwigsburg coach Josh King was quoted as saying in a statement. “He is a versatile big guard who played a great season in Poland last year. He is capable of playing positions 1-3. So he brings exactly the versatility we were looking for. On the court he can do a lot of things and make our team better. “
