HomeFootballLöwen: "I'm endlessly annoyed"

Löwen: “I’m endlessly annoyed”

In Leverkusen, Bochum were on an equal footing, but too often made the wrong decisions near the goal. Eduard Löwen, however, also sees the positive.

The justified anger about the penalty not being given and the possible red card against Jeremie Frimpong was only part of Bochum’s analysis of the unfortunate 0:1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, their own wrong decisions were also criticised.

Bochum’s chance-taking too weak

“We’ve been talking about efficiency for weeks now “, says midfielder Eduard Löwen and thinks:“We play it better, get into the situations, but just don’t take advantage of it. We wait too long or make the wrong decision.” The ex-Berlin player did not exclude himself: “I also had two or three opportunities that I have to make more of. In retrospect, I’m also endlessly annoyed about that.”

Indeed, the Westphalians repeatedly won the ball with courageous pressing, but they did not create many big chances because the attacks in the final third were played too hesitantly, too inaccurately or incorrectly – once again.

We could have had more.

“We have to practise it again and again until we get it right,” says Löwen, who knows: “When we start taking these chances, we’ll get more self-confidence and security.” Because the assets are right: “We played a good game, we’ve had some good games in the last few weeks and we didn’t get 13 points for nothing.” But he was “still annoyed because we could have had more”.

So the 24-year-old is also taking away positive insights from the performance in Leverkusen: “The fact that we are creating chances at all says a lot. The fact that we have 21 shots on goal here says something about the team. And we have to build on that.” And take more with us next time: “We must definitely not rest and not be too happy about our performances, because we also need points and have to work on getting more. “
