“Loved every second” – Klopp in FA Cup final for first time

The title is still missing from his collection: Jürgen Klopp could win the FA Cup for the first time this season. After the game against Manchester City, the Liverpool FC coach was thrilled.

There is no time to take a breather, as the league continues on Tuesday against Manchester United (9pm). Nevertheless, Liverpool FC can look back on the week of truth with great satisfaction, at least for a few hours.

The Reds kept all their options open in the league, made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League – and their chances in the FA Cup are better than ever under Jürgen Klopp.

In the second meeting of the two best clubs in England at the moment, the Reds had a near-perfect first half, leading the Skyblues 3-0 at times. That was one of the reasons why Klopp spoke highly of his team on DAZN after the game: “That was one of the best halves we have ever played. We did everything right and scored at the right moments. We played unbelievable! I loved every second of it,” said the 54-year-old.

Klopp praises opponents City but Reds take their chances

For the first time in his seven-year tenure at the Reds, the winning coach reached the final of the world’s oldest football competition – even the semi-finals were uncharted territory – and still has a chance to collect a quartet of titles this season. The Reds have already won the League Cup, and are among the final contenders in the league, FA Cup and Champions League.

On the other hand, Klopp refused to call the triumph over Guardiola’s Skyblues a statement. “We just wanted to get into the final. City knew beforehand that it would be difficult against us. It’s so hard to win against them, their quality is unbelievable,” Klopp also praised the opposition, but immediately transferred that praise back to his team. “With these guys in my dressing room you have a chance and that is reason enough for me to try against them.” The Reds took that chance. Now they want to lift the trophy at Wembley on 14 May against Chelsea or Crystal Palace for the first time since 2006.
