Lots of NBA experience: Alba brings in Brown for the wing

Alba Berlin presented its fifth newcomer for the upcoming season in BBL and Euroleague on Tuesday.

With the experience of 292 appearances in the NBA, wing player Sterling Brown moves to Alba Berlin. The 28-year-old joins the capital club as the fifth new signing of the summer and has signed a two-year contract.

Alba is the US-American’s first stop in Europe. In the NBA, Brown has played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers since 2017. Last season, the pro played four times for the Lakers alongside German national team captain Dennis Schröder, who has since signed with the Toronto Raptors.

Ojeda allows time to settle in

“I’ve liked Sterling since I first saw him play live in 2017,” Alba sporting director Himar Ojeda said. “With his skills, he’ll help us in many ways, even if he’ll need some time to get used to European basketball.”

Earlier, the Albatrosses had re-signed Justin Bean, Elias Rapieque, Matteo Spagnolo and Matt Thomas. Previous top performers such as Maodo Lo, Luke Sikma, Jaleen Smith and Tamir Blatt left the club.

Alba will start the new season on 28 September with an away game at MLP Academics Heidelberg.
