Liverpool sticks in Russia on draw; Ben Yedder hurts Slovenes

Liverpool visited Spartak Moscow and left two expensive points behind.Jürgen Klopp’s team was the better party for the whole game, but eventually had to settle for a scoring division: 1-1.Thanks to three goals of Wissam Ben Yedder, Seville was much too strong for NK Maribor: 3-0.Because of the simple victory, the Spaniards in group E lead the team with four points from two matches.

Spartak Moscow – Liverpool 1-1With the home team Quincy Promes was missing in the competition selection and Georginio Wijnaldum started at the bank at Liverpool.The midfielder saw his team get the first opportunity, but a header from Roberto Firmino didn’t hit a goal.Spartak took the lead after 23 minutes.A free staircase by Fernando was too powerful for Loris Karius: 1-0.Two minutes later Sadio Mané thought he could record the equalizer again, but the Senegalese was whistled back because of offside.After 31 minutes the stand was still 1-1.Philippe Coutinho set up a one-two with Mané and the Brazilian shot then hit the spot.The Reds were at a stroke of peace and quiet still close to the lead, only Mané couldn’t get his shoe against the ball well.

Coutinho created the first danger after rest.His free kick was a prey for Spartak goalkeeper Artem Rebrov.Mohamed Salah became almost dangerous, but a pass from Sané just didn’t get through.A quarter of an hour before time, Wijnaldum came into the field as a replacement for Emre Can.With the Dutchman on the field, Liverpool went looking for victory in the final phase.A shot by substitute Daniel Sturridge went just next to him and a volley of his foot didn’t hit a goal.In the sixth minute of injury time almost still the winning hit for the guests fell, but the attacked goalkeeper Alexander Selikhov saved excellently and kept both teams at 1-1.Liverpool stands on two points after two matches and is therefore second in Group E, Spartak Moscow also collected two points and stands third.

Seville – NK Maribor 3-0The Spanish sub top had no child to the Slovenian opponent and it was Ben Yedder who gave the home team an easy evening.Joaquín Correa dribbled through Maribor’s defences halfway through the first half of the year, after which the Argentinean midfielder Ben Yedder successfully launched: 1-0.Ten minutes later, the Frenchman made himself heard again: Franco Vazquez saw the attacker’s run, delivered a perfect pass, after which Ben Yedder was able to double with the advantageous margin.

In the second half Maribor was once again unable to compete against the Seville game.The home plough continued to press and hunt targets, but goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic was able to prevent the tragedy for the Slovenes from getting even worse.After chances for Jesús Navas, among others, Ben Yedder was also allowed to provide the final chord: the attacker was allowed to build from eleven metres and did not fail against Handanovic: 0-3.The malaise could then become much bigger for Maribor, but Ben Yedder and the members couldn’t score anymore.
