Lewis Hamilton in GTA? Social media video evokes Rockstar classic

After the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton appeared in a social media video as a TV hero in the style of *Miami Vice* or *GTA: Vice City*

After the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton celebrated the “Magic City” with a video of his own. For many fans, the clip likely brought to mind not only the TV series Miami Vice, but above all the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

On the track, the Miami weekend was not a particularly exciting experience for the seven-time world champion. After all, Hamilton could only secure sixth place on Sunday. Ferrari had brought along no fewer than eleven updates for the event around Hard Rock Stadium. However, the media pro knew how to wow fans with his clip after the event.

In the style of the 1980s series or Rockstar’s open-world hit, Hamilton appears in the video wearing sunglasses and a white suit. In keeping with his current role, the 41-year-old drives a Ferrari Testarossa through the Florida metropolis.

The V12 rocket also appears in GTA: Vice City, though without an official license. There, an almost identical vehicle named “Cheetah” can be found, based on the silhouette of the real-life race car.

The video also opens with numerous scenes on a speedboat, depicting the 105-time Grand Prix winner in the style of a TV hero. The video is set to the rap classic “Straight Outta Compton” by NWA.

Both the 1980s TV series and the Rockstar game from the early 2000s have become an integral part of pop culture. Fittingly, GTA 6, the next major game in the Rockstar series, is once again set in Vice City, a Miami-inspired setting. The release is scheduled for November 19, 2026.

The massive anticipation for the game is accompanied by news of layoffs at Rockstar. Earlier this year, there were explicit reports of allegations that the company had attempted to prevent potential unionization efforts.

Hamilton himself has already appeared in a variety of pop culture media. In addition to several music videos and the Formula 1 movie, the Ferrari driver has already been featured in the battle royale title Fortnite. Furthermore, at a fan event last year, Hamilton jokingly remarked that he wanted to take extra vacation time for GTA 6.
