LEC Spring Split: Rogue wins top match after falling behind

Fnatic vs Rogue was the name of the duel between the favourites of the current LEC season, which took place last weekend. And the encounter lived up to its promise.

After Fnatic took the lead, the final of the LEC Spring Split seemed as good as decided. The team around German botlaner Elias ‘Upset’ Lipp won the first two rounds. Only one more victory was needed to reach the final. But then Rogue managed the sensation.

Rogue overcomes 0:2 deficit

Fnatic showed their will to win from the start and started the early rounds at a high tempo. Rogue tried valiantly to fight back against the aggressive style of play, but failed to completely hold off the onslaught. So Fnatic first won game 1 and then game 2 as well.

The organisation based in Berlin clearly dominated the top duel at the beginning and won the match point. However, the team was unable to make use of it: Rogue came back more determined in Game 3 and scored the victory.

Revanche in the Grand Final still possible

The Rogue team sensed their opportunity in the aftermath and made the most of it: In both Game 4 and the final round, they started offensively and made short work of Fnatic, who had lost control of the match. Both rounds were won in only about 22 minutes each. With this, the international organisation managed a sensational comeback – and the qualification for the final of the LEC Spring Split.

For Fnatic, however, the tournament is not over yet: the team will have a second chance to enter the final in the “Losers’ Final” against G2 Esports. The German organisation navigated its way through the “Losers’ Bracket” with ease, beating Team Vitality and Misfits Gaming both 3-0 at the weekend, so the LEC’s top match could get a rematch in the grand final, which takes place on 10 April at 17:00 CEST
