Lawrence Stroll sets target for 2024: Better than 5th place!

Team owner Lawrence Stroll sees Aston Martin “on the road to victory”, but above all has a long-term vision in mind, which is also reflected in the new campus

2023 Aston Martin made a promising start to the Formula 1 season. Newcomer Fernando Alonso regularly finished on the podium and the team was first in pursuit of Red Bull. However, the form curve flattened out significantly as the season progressed. In the end, they finished fifth behind McLaren in the championship

For 2024, both Team Principal Mike Krack and Alonso announced at the presentation of the new AMR24 that they not only want to regularly finish in the points and on the podium, but also celebrate their “first win in green”.

Team owner Lawrence Stroll is also aiming for this. When asked about the goals for the new season, he says: “We want to do better than last year.”

“I know that we would like to move up from fifth to fourth or third place. In any case, we just want to keep improving,” emphasizes the Canadian, referring to the development phase Aston is still in.

“We are a young team and have just moved into a new facility. Our wind tunnel will be ready in September this year. We are the last team still racing without our own wind tunnel. We will switch to Honda engines in 2026. So we are on the road to victory,” says Stroll.

The aim is to get a little closer to this goal every year. The fact that Aston Martin is aiming for the top is also reflected in the Formula 1 team’s new headquarters in Silverstone.

“It’s a campus whose construction began shortly after Covid. We have completed one of three buildings. And when it’s all finished, we’ll have the largest state-of-the-art Formula 1 facility. So we’re really looking forward to that.”

Speaking about the launch of this year’s challenger this Monday, the team owner says: “It was a very, very exciting day. Seeing our Formula 1 car at the shakedown on the Silverstone circuit thrilled us all. Now we can hardly wait for the new season to start. “
