Laux new team manager at 1. FC Köln

1. FC Köln makes Marius Laux (35) its new team manager.

When Marius Laux, a veteran of Cologne’s regional league team, surprisingly ended his career after 386 games for the “little billy goats” just under a fortnight ago, all that was known was that the captain of Cologne’s U 21s had asked for his contract to be terminated six months before it expired for professional reasons.

Now the Cologne “Express” reports why this apparent neck-and-neck action makes sense: Laux will become team manager of the professional players with immediate effect, and as such must take care of all organisational processes of the professional team, from the organisation of training camps and away trips to the coordination of the important interfaces between the team, the coaching team, the medical department and the management.

The appointment became necessary because FC parted company with the previous team manager Dennis Lapaczinski. Lapaczinski had already been dismissed some time ago because of his refusal to undergo the Corona vaccination. Now the final separation and the new appointment with Laux, the old acquaintance. The prerequisites that Laux brings with him sound promising: he has a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on sports management and holds the Trainer B licence.
