Koepfer and Siegemund eliminated in Miami

Miami – Tennis professional Dominik Koepfer was eliminated in the first round at the Masters in Miami. The 27-year-old from Furtwangen lost 7:6 (10:8), 4:6, 4:6 to Mackanzie McDonald from the USA.

Of the five Germans in the main draw, Koepfer is the first to be eliminated. Oscar Otte will face qualifier Mitchell Krueger from the USA, Jan-Lennard Struff will play Pedro Martinez from Spain and Daniel Altmaier will take on qualifier J.J. Wolf from the USA. Olympic number two seed Alexander Zverev has a bye in the first round.

Also out for Siegemund

Laura Siegemund has also been eliminated in the first round in Florida. The 34-year-old from Filderstadt lost 1:6, 2:6 against Czech Marie Bouzkova. The day before, Nastasja Schunk had already lost 6:4, 3:6, 1:6 to Julia Putintseva from Kazakhstan.

Angelique Kerber is therefore the only German left in the Miami Open, which is worth around 8.6 million US dollars. The German number one will meet former world number one Naomi Osaka in the first round of the hard court tournament after a walk-through. The Japanese won against Astra Sharma from New Zealand 6:3, 6:4.
