Knicks sue Raptors for theft

A New York Knicks analyst will be working for the Toronto Raptors in the future. Because the man allegedly gave Dennis Schröder’s new team access to video material, there is now a lawsuit.

The Raptors, new club of DBB captain Dennis Schröder, are accused of espionage and theft by the Knicks. The details are that a former Knicks employee who now works for the Raptors was charged with stealing scouting reports on other teams, among other things. This was reported by the US news agency AP on Monday (local time) with reference to the statement of claim.

The man is also alleged to have misused software accesses of the Knicks to obtain information for the Raptors. He was responsible for the planning, distribution and organisation of the video material for the analysis of opponents and had his last working day for the team from the “Big Apple” on 14 August. Before leaving, he reportedly sent information from his Knicks email address to his new Raptors email address.

The lawsuit is against ten unidentified Raptors employees as well as new head coach Darko Rajakovic, player development coach Noah Lewis and the Raptors’ parent company, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Limited. Schröder plays in the NBA following the World Cup for the organisation from Canada, which denied the allegations and announced internal investigations.

Both East rivals open the new season with home games on 26 October. The Knicks take on the Boston Celtics in a duel steeped in tradition, while the Raptors host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
