Karen Khachanov has stopped young star Jakub Mensik’s winning streak in Doha, Qatar, and celebrated his sixth tournament win on the ATP Tour

The number two seeded tennis pro Karen Khachanov has stopped young star Jakub Mensik’s winning streak in Doha/Qatar and celebrated his sixth tournament victory on the ATP Tour.

The 27-year-old Russian beat the 18-year-old Czech 7:6 (14:12) and 6:4 in the final. With his triumph in Doha, Khachanov climbed from 17th to 15th place in the world rankings on Monday.

Mensik, for his part, moves into the top 100 for the first time as the new number 87. In the quarter-finals, he had beaten the top-seeded Russian Andrei Rublev in two sets. He also knocked the old stars Andy Murray and Gael Monfils out of the competition.

Victory at the WTA tournament in Dubai went to Italy. The 26-year-old Jasmine Paolini secured her second tour title with a 4:6, 7:5, 7:5 win against the Russian Anna Kalinskaya. Kalinskaya had made the headlines with her smooth semi-final win against the top seed Iga Swiatek from Poland.
