Juve coach Allegri threatens a journalist: Dismissal without notice imminent

Although Juventus Turin won the cup final, coach Massimiliano Allegri had several outbursts. Juve are now apparently even considering the possibility of sacking him without notice

Allegri lost his nerve before the final whistle of the cup final in Rome. In stoppage time, the Juve coach was sent off for insulting the referee, tore off his shirt and tie and shouted at the fourth official and the crowd. He was handed a two-match ban and a fine of 5,000 euros for his actions. The “Old Lady” still managed to hold on for a 1:0 victory

However, Allegri had obviously only really got going. Before the press conference, he encountered the editor-in-chief of Tuttosport, whom he allegedly threatened, insulted and even pushed, as Guido Vaciago revealed. The coach is said to have been restrained with difficulty by a club spokeswoman. Allegri also insulted Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and pushed him away. The Italian Football Federation FIGC has since launched an investigation into Allegri.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the club is now even considering dismissing him without notice. Juve’s lawyers are checking whether this is possible. In this case, the club would save seven million euros net plus two million euros in bonuses, which Allegri is still entitled to because his contract runs until 2025.

Thiago Motta under discussion as successor

The successor is apparently already in the starting blocks. Thiago Motta is the chosen one; the former Italian international with Brazilian roots surprisingly led FC Bologna to the Champions League. Despite their success in the Coppa Italia, Juventus have had a mixed season. The record champions are only in fourth place in Serie A, but Juve have already qualified for the top flight with two matchdays to go.
