Italian Paolini also in the French Open doubles final

Jasmine Paolini’s fairytale run of victories in Paris continues in the doubles. Will she manage a double Grand Slam coup at the Stade Roland Garros?

Italian tennis player Jasmine Paolini can continue to hope for a double triumph at this year’s French Open. One day before her singles final against the Polish top favorite Iga Swiatek, the 28-year-old also reached the final of the doubles competition. Paolini won alongside Sara Errani against Marta Kostjuk from Ukraine and Elena-Gabriela Ruse from Romania 1:6, 6:4, 6:1.

In the final on Sunday, Paolini/Errani will face US star Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic, who beat the Americans Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk 5:7, 6:4, 6:2 in the second semi-final. US Open winner Gauff was defeated by Swiatek in the final round of the singles.

Paolini is the clear outsider in Saturday’s singles final against world number one Swiatek. Reaching her first Grand Slam singles final is the biggest success of her career to date for the world number 15
