Is Florentino Perez stepping away from his “Galacticos” policy?

Real Madrid is every footballer’s dream destination. As a result, the club’s fans have had the pleasure of watching superstars play together for years. Recent signings, however, suggest that Real president Florentino Perez might be changing his “Galacticos” policy.

Real Madrid: Recent Signings

Vinicius Junior Real Madrid

Teenagers Vinicius Junior (18), Rodrygo Goes (17) and Andriy Lunin (19) are the latest players to be added to Real Madrid’s roster, something which is not common for the most decorated football club in the world. Florentino Perez does not usually think about the future, but rather focuses on the present. Winning titles is what drives him.

In the past, losing somebody like Cristiano Ronaldo meant at least two new stars would be added to maintain luminosity. That hasn’t been the case this off-season, at least not so far.

“Little by little we are laying the foundations of our team’s present and future,”

“We want to incorporate the young talent that will shape the future, players who aspire to the maximum.”

Those are words you wouldn’t expect to hear from Perez. It demonstrates how profound Zinedine Zidane’s influence on the club was. He was the one who started doing what no other Real Madrid manager dared to do before him, which was incorporating youngsters into the first team. Raphael Varane, Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio, Borja Mayoral and Jesus Vallejo are some of the players Zidane pushed into the squad, giving an example of what can be accomplished with proper training and proving that a quality team can be built from within as well.

Real Madrid’s only one other summer arrival is right back Alvaro Odriozola, who at 22 is also very young.

No more “Galacticos” for Florentino Perez?

Not so fast. Although the boss recognises Real’s efforts to build for the future, he also reminds everyone of what this club is all about.

“After the last big titles, we will continue to be loyal to our way of understanding this sport, that has given us so much success.”

“Our club has built its myth and its legend on the basis that no one ever surrenders and we must always aspire to everything.”

With Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard heavily linked with moves to the Spanish capital, Los Galacticos’ galaxy is not about to fade anytime soon.
