Injured too often: Totti would consider selling Dybala

Francesco Totti has recently spoken out about Roma ace Paulo Dybala – and indirectly advised the bosses in the “Eternal City” to think about selling the Argentine. The reason: injuries

Paulo Dybala is undoubtedly a guarantee in the Roma squad. When the Argentinian world champion is on the pitch, he can always make the difference – and has done so impressively of late.

For example, the 30-year-old attacking artist scored in the 4-0 first-leg win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Europa League round of 16, scored a treble in the 3-2 Serie A win over Torino and collected two goals in the 4-1 win in Monza. In total, the attacker, who will leave Juventus in the summer of 2022 (2015 to 2022) and was celebrated in a special way by the Romanisti, has scored twelve goals and provided seven assists in 20 league games this season.

And it is precisely these 20 Serie A games that once again highlight the darker side of his entire career. It’s just 20

Totti changes his mind

Dybala has already missed 13 other possible matches in 2023/24 alone due to physical complaints – most recently the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 at Brighton & Hove (0:1) and the league match against Sassuolo Calcio (1:0).

For Roma legend Francesco Totti, that’s reason enough to make a statement. “If I were sporting director,” the 47-year-old put it rather harshly in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, “I would think about a player who only plays 15 games a year. As a club, I’m pursuing important goals – and one of my best players is only available for a third. “

Thus, Totti also backtracked on his opinion from January, when “El Capitano” had clearly spoken out in favor of Dybala staying. Now the eternal Roman and champion player of the 2000/01 season has virtually suggested a sale to the current AS bosses.

Dybala’s current contract runs until June 30, 2025 – and includes an exit clause of €13 million for foreign clubs and €20 million for Serie A clubs. According to the media, the Giallorossi could remove the clause with a salary increase for the dribbling artist, who joined on a free transfer from record champions Juve at the time.
