Imprisonment looms: Time is running out for Hernandez

Bayern professional Lucas Hernandez must continue to wait for a decision on his appeal. Time is running out.

Does Lucas Hernandez have to start a six-month prison sentence on 28 October? The record-breaking FC Bayern purchase continues to hope to avoid it.

But a spokesman for the court administration in Madrid told Deutsche Presse-Agentur on Tuesday that there was no date yet for the regional court’s decision on Hernandez’s lodged appeal – and it was questionable whether the court would rule before October 28.

The Frenchman, who moved to Munich from Atletico for 80 million euros in the summer of 2019, had voluntarily appeared at the relevant criminal court in Madrid a day earlier than summoned on Monday, where he was officially informed that he would have to start serving his six-month sentence in ten days at the latest. The sentence had been handed down in 2019 for flouting a no-contact order with his now-wife.

Nagelsmann: “He can separate it very well “

Julian Nagelsmann remains unconcerned about Hernandez’s condition ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash at Benfica Lisbon. “I would then speak to him if I noticed any abnormalities. I don’t notice those –  rather positive that he is in a good mood, has played well, trained well,” the coach said on Tuesday.

“I think he can separate that very well because he can assess the situation very well,” Nagelsmann added. “He will certainly play a good game tomorrow as well. “
