Hyballa’s successor confirmed: Türkgücü hires Heraf

Türkgücü München has a new head coach. The Austrian Andreas Heraf is to save the third-division club from relegation.

As the club announced on Monday afternoon, Heraf had already signed his contract last week. The 54-year-old thus succeeds Peter Hyballa, who was already sacked in November after just seven games. Co-coach Alper Kayabunar was in charge of the team on an interim basis until Christmas.

Heraf played for Hannover 96 for half a season and took part in the 1998 World Cup with the Austrian national team. As a coach, he worked for years as a youth coach for the ÖFB and was subsequently technical director of the New Zealand national team. Most recently, he coached Austrian first division club SV Ried until November. The coach will bring co-coach Goran Djuricin with him to Munich.

“It is a great honour and I am proud to be working at Türkgücü Munich,” Heraf is quoted as saying in the club’s statement. “We had good talks and finally it was agreed that we want to do this cooperation.”

A tough task now awaits him at Türkgücü: The 16th-placed team in the 3rd division has been waiting for a win for eight games now.
