Hünemeier has by no means had enough

SC Paderborn has extended the contract of head defender Uwe Hünemeier, which expires in the summer, by another year. The 35-year-old has played in all games from the start this season.

Uwe Hünemeier still has plans. The 35-year-old veteran will remain with SC Paderborn and has extended his contract with the East Westphalians by one year until 30 June 2023.

Hünemeier first signed for SCP in 2013, coming to the Pader from FC Energie Cottbus. After three seasons from 2015 to 2018 with Brighton & Hove Albion in England, the defender returned to Paderborn. Hünemeier has played 161 competitive games for Paderborn to date (twelve goals).

“Identification figure for Paderborn football “

“Uwe is a sporting and human role model in our squad. He shows an exceptionally high willingness to perform in every training session and every game and is also absolutely reliable,” SCP managing director of sport Fabian Wohlgemuth is quoted as saying on the club’s website. “With these virtues, he has developed into an identification figure for Paderborn football.”
