How hard will BVB II be hit by the loss of Raschl?

Borussia Dortmund’s second team continues to stir up the 3. Liga as a promoted team, but will now have to do without top performer Tobias Raschl for a longer period of time.

This start to the season is truly impressive: As a league newcomer, BVB’s second team is in joint second place with Saarbrücken after twelve matchdays (both 20 points and 20:15 goals).

The bitter 2:4 defeat in Braunschweig last weekend did not hurt any longer than necessary. The injury to key player Raschl, on the other hand, did: the midfield driver had to leave the field midway through the second half with his face contorted in pain.

An MRI examination should provide information about the severity of the knee injury. A meniscus injury is being considered, but BVB has not yet officially confirmed this. The Westphalians only announced that Raschl would not be able to play against Viktoria Köln on Sunday. In the current third division season, he has eleven appearances, two goals and one assist (kicker grade average 2.86).

Hope for Krebs and Broschinski

In addition to Marco Hober, who recently returned to the squad, there is hope for Florian Krebs and Moritz Broschinski. Whether Stefan Drljaca and Cebrail Makreckis will be fit in time is still open.

But even so, BVB are firm favourites in the home match. After all, they are travelling to the worst away team in the current season. Viktoria have only picked up one point from six games – with a goal difference of 3:13.
