Horner case: Ex-employee files complaint with FIA, according to the media

The woman accusing Red Bull team boss Christian Horner of inappropriate behavior has filed a complaint with the FIA, according to a media report

While the affair surrounding Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner was previously an internal Red Bull matter, according to a BBC report, the FIA will now have to deal with the case. According to the British broadcaster, the former employee accusing Horner has lodged an official complaint with the FIA about his behavior.

This has been received by the FIA’s ethics committee, which the FIA has neither confirmed nor denied. A general statement from the FIA reads: “At the FIA, inquiries and complaints are received and dealt with by the Compliance Officer and, where appropriate, by the Ethics Commission. Both bodies work independently and guarantee strict confidentiality throughout the process.”

“We are therefore unable to confirm receipt of any particular complaint and it is unlikely that we will be in a position to comment further on any complaints we receive from any party,” it added.

According to the BBC, an initial communication from a whistleblower was received by the FIA’s Ethics and Compliance Hotline on February 2, 2024.

In it, the association was asked to look into the matter and fears were expressed that Red Bull might be trying to cover up the case. On March 6, a whistleblower contacted the FIA again and threatened to inform the media as a next step.

The allegations by the now dismissed employee that Horner had behaved inappropriately towards her as her superior became public at the beginning of February.

Following an internal investigation by Red Bull, Horner, who had always maintained his innocence, was cleared of the allegations on February 28. According to consistent media reports, the former employee appealed against this decision by Red Bull GmbH last week.
