Hopeful for Belgrade: Motika leaves FC Bayern

On the one hand, he lacks the prospect of a real chance with the professionals, on the other hand, he lacks patience: Nemanja Motika (18) leaves FC Bayern behind and moves to Serbia.

For him, it was “normal” at some point to train with Bayern professionals like Müller and Lewandowski. He “wanted to threaten” the starting eleven of Sané, Coman and Co. on the offensive wing. These statements were made only a few months ago, but now Motika is leaving the Bavarian capital to make his breakthrough in Belgrade.

The move does not come as a surprise, the talent did not have a clear perspective on the first eleven. The 18-year-old, who wants to make his breakthrough as quickly as possible, did not really fancy his chances in Julian Nagelsmann’s team – and not only because of the enormous competition that is to be found at the FCB. Even at youth level, with Paul Wanner or Gabriel Vidovic, other players were further up the pecking order.

Great expectations

The native Berliner with Serbian roots (one international for the Serbian U 19), however, convinced in the second team of Bayern, scored 15 goals and eight assists in 24 regional league games in the current season. Now comes the jump to Red Star Belgrade, where they think highly of the 18-year-old. “Nemanja is considered one of the great talents in Europe and we believe he will prove himself in the red and white kit,” the Serbian record champions wrote in a press release.

Motika himself hopes that he can “fulfil these expectations” and also revealed that he had spoken with Marko Marin. The former German international himself played for Red Star and is still held in high esteem there. He had given him the advice to “stay relaxed, make an effort – then everything will pay off”. He also heard only “good things” about Red Star from his younger brother Nikola. The central defender had only recently joined RSB and still plays there in the youth team.

In Belgrade, which according to media reports will pay a transfer fee of around 1.5 million euros for the offensively versatile player, Motika has set his sights high. “I want to score as many goals as possible and get a lot of assists.

He will not only get the chance to do so in the Serbian league, where Red Star are currently second in the table, five points behind leaders Partizan, but possibly also in the Europa League. It is not yet clear whether coach Dejan Stankovic plans to take Motika to the round of 16.
