Hilßner to liven up FSV attack

FSV Zwickau has loaned Marcel Hilßner (26) from English second division club Coventry City for the remainder of the second half of the season. The former national U-team player is expected to liven up the Saxons’ attack with immediate effect.

“Marcel is a midfielder who is capable of scoring goals and is always a danger in attacking midfield,” said FSV sporting director Toni Wachsmuth.

Hilßner – on the island since summer 2020 – has not yet played for Coventry City in the league. In the last second half of the season, Hilßner played on loan for Oldham Athletic in the fourth English league. Wachsmuth accordingly hopes for a “win-win situation” for all involved.

Hilßner began playing football in his native city of Leipzig, then moved to the youth centre of SV Werder Bremen. Hilßner celebrated his third league and Bundesliga debut at the Weser. Until his move to England, the left-footer also played for Dynamo Dresden, Hansa Rostock, SC Paderborn and Halleschen FC. In addition, the former junior international played a total of 26 international matches.
