“Heavy blow” for Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus misses start of season

Arsenal FC will have to do without Gabriel Jesus (26) for the start of the new Premier League season. The Brazilian attacker will be out for several weeks due to knee surgery

After a break of around four months, Gabriel Jesus celebrated his comeback at the beginning of March after overcoming a knee injury, but now Arsenal FC will miss the Brazilian again.

Gabriel Jesus will probably have to take a break for “a few weeks “

The Gunners’ coach Mikel Arteta explained that the 26-year-old had to undergo a “minor surgical procedure” on his knee. Accordingly, this was “a big blow, he was in very good shape and we will miss him”, said the Spanish coach. Arteta was not yet able to give any information about the exact duration of his offensive player’s absence, but he expects it to be “a few weeks”.

The striker already proved how important Gabriel Jesus is for Arteta’s offence last season. Despite a long injury lay-off, last year’s summer addition scored eleven goals and made seven assists in the Premier League, which is why the Brazilian played a decisive role in the Londoners’ surge to the top of the table.

How does Arteta fill the void in attack?

Although Gabriel Jesus, one of the key factors in the Gunners’ attacking game, is now gone for the time being, Mikel Arteta still has some promising options for the centre of attack. In addition to Kai Havertz, who arrived from city rivals Chelsea FC for around 70 million just a few weeks ago, Eddie Nketiah, among others, can also hope to make an appearance. Folarin Balogun is another contender after the 22-year-old American returned to London following his convincing loan spell at Stade Reims (39 games, 22 goals).
