Gravenberch confirms Bayern interest – Ajax talks “stopped”

Ryan Gravenberch is no longer negotiating a contract extension with Ajax Amsterdam – and knows of FC Bayern’s interest.

Ryan Gravenberch leaving Ajax Amsterdam in the summer after twelve years is looking increasingly likely. “Contract negotiations have been stopped,” the 19-year-old homegrown revealed to Dutch broadcaster NOS. “I only have one year left on my contract and that’s really it. “

However, it is hardly an option that he will stay until 2023: He had already ruled out a departure without a transfer fee, and Ajax might also have other ideas – especially as there seem to be enough potential suitors.

Gravenberch himself knows that FC Bayern is one of them. “Of course” he has heard about it, he explained. “There is interest from Bayern, but I think there are several clubs.” Most recently, “De Telegraaf” had reported that Bayern had already deposited an offer of €25 million with Ajax.

Van Gaal renounces Gravenberch – and meets with opposition

All that, however, is in the hands of his father and his advisor Mino Raiola, Gravenberch said, adding that he himself wants to “just concentrate on football”. After all, things are not going quite right for the talented midfielder on the pitch at the moment.

Bonds coach Louis van Gaal had not nominated Gravenberch (ten senior internationals, one goal) for the test matches against Denmark (Saturday) and Germany and instead sent him to the Dutch U 21 after one and a half years. Reason: Gravenberch is currently going through a “very bad phase”.

The downgraded player does not want to agree to this. Since the winter break, his form curve has risen again, says Gravenberch. Most recently, he had fought his way back into the starting eleven after his Corona infection in February and three joker appearances at Ajax, and also played through the Champions League exit against Benfica (0:1).

“Of course you prefer to play for the Oranje first team,” he says. That’s why he initially had to nibble at van Gaal’s decision. “But now I’ve flipped the switch. “
