Grand Slams: Tiebreak up to ten points in the deciding set

London/Paris – At all Grand Slam tournaments in tennis, a tiebreak up to ten points at 6:6 in the deciding set will be played from now on for at least one year. According to the organisers of the four most important tennis tournaments, this has been agreed upon.
The rules, which had differed until now, have thus been standardised. The rules are to be used for the first time at the French Open, which begins at the end of May, and will apply to all competitions in singles and doubles.

So far, Paris was the only Grand Slam tournament where the fifth set was played with a difference of two games. The super tie-break in Wimbledon, which only took place at 12:12, is now history, at least for the time being. The new rule is to be reviewed after a trial period next year before it becomes permanent.
