The German Disabled Sports Association’s team has continued the positive momentum of recent years at this major event.
The German women’s wheelchair tennis team has achieved its best result in 15 years at the World Team Championships.
The trio of Katharina Krüger, Britta Wend and national team debutant Jana Lindenthal finished fifth at the World Team Cup in Orlando, thereby securing their place in the division and direct qualification for the upcoming World Championships.
Narrowly missed out on a medal
The team had squandered their chance of a medal with a 0–2 defeat in the quarter-finals against France.
The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) squad had won the previous round of 16 match against Great Britain, as well as the subsequent placement matches against the USA and Colombia, all convincingly by a score of 2–0.
“We’re really happy and have achieved an excellent fifth place – our best result at a World Team Cup since 2011,” enthused coach Philipp Born.
