Record world champion Lewis Hamilton shares more worrying news about Roscoe: the Ferrari driver’s 13-year-old bulldog is in the veterinary clinic.
Lewis Hamilton is once again very concerned about his bulldog Roscoe: as was the case a few weeks ago when the nearly 13-year-old four-legged friend was battling pneumonia, the record world champion is once again fearing for the health of his long-time companion.
On Wednesday evening, Hamilton shared a picture of Roscoe on his Instagram story that has many fans concerned: the bulldog is apparently back in the veterinary clinic, visibly weakened and worn out. “It’s been a few scary hours,” Hamilton wrote. “Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts and prayers.”
However, the Ferrari driver has not yet revealed why Roscoe is currently undergoing treatment again or how the four-legged friend is doing at the moment. Back in April, the dog, who is exclusively fed a vegan diet, survived severe pneumonia. It cannot therefore be ruled out that this may be a case of possible long-term effects.
Although Roscoe was doing “pretty well” again in the meantime, Hamilton is aware that their time together is limited: Bulldogs only live to an average age of eight to ten years, but Roscoe will be celebrating his 13th birthday in a few weeks.
Hamilton’s bulldog Roscoe is already 13 years old
“It’s unusual for a bulldog to live to such an old age,” explained Hamilton, who took Roscoe to his home race at Silverstone again this year despite his age. RTL reporter Heiko Waßer sharply criticized the Briton for this, even calling it “animal cruelty.”
But Hamilton remained unimpressed: “I want him to be there at Monza too,” he said. “I think he’ll look very good in a red Ferrari cape.” Ultimately, however, Roscoe stayed away from the Italian Grand Prix, perhaps for health reasons.
Whether Hamilton, who recently had to say goodbye to one of his four-legged friends in June 2020, and Roscoe will be able to come to the paddock together again at one of the next Formula 1 races will probably be decided in the coming days and weeks.
