“Fresh energy” needed for Rooney: Coach resigns at Derby County

Wayne Rooney will no longer coach the traditional English club Derby County. The 36-year-old does not want to continue at the second division relegated club.

Bad news for Derby County: Coach Wayne Rooney has asked for the termination of his contract. The financially struggling club made the announcement on Friday. Rooney was said to feel “the club needs to be run by someone with fresh energy who has not been affected by the events that have happened over the past 18 months”.

Rooney has had it too much

For the record, Derby County have long been plagued by financial difficulties, which even led to the relegated club being deducted a total of 21 points in the past second division season in England for filing for insolvency as well as breaching “viability and sustainability” regulations.

Rooney could no longer work with the financial obstacle behind him. He had, however, enjoyed the time despite all the difficulties. The insolvency administrators expressed disappointment at the decision, but paid tribute to the efforts of the “Three Lions” record scorer.

The 1972 and 1975 English champions, who played in the EFL Championship until relegation from the Premier League in 2008 until most recently 2021/22, must therefore look for a new coach. To date, several takeover attempts by investors have failed – despite the wooing of Rooney, who said: “Derby County is a great club with a great history and great fans.”

Henceforth, however, with one less famous coach.
