Forsberg transfer to the USA? Nothing is certain yet

Emil Forsberg (32) is not completely satisfied with his playing time at RB Leipzig. It is therefore fitting that, according to a media report, he will be taking on a new challenge this winter. But according to information, it’s not quite that far yet

The report from “Bild” on Monday sounded clear: It stated that Emil Forsberg will leave RB Leipzig in the winter after nine years and take on a new challenge with the New York Red Bulls. Financial reasons were also a decisive factor: As one of the three Designated Players per MLS team, the 32-year-old could earn a lot of money again in the fall of his career – and ultimately end his career in the “Big Apple”.

But according to information, nothing has been decided yet. It is true that the Swedish international is considering a move to the Saxons’ sister club. But the potential transfer is still in the early stages

Leipzig must first find a replacement

The attacking midfielder is not satisfied with his playing time at the Champions League side. Although rival Dani Olmo is once again missing through injury, Forsberg has only made four appearances in the starting eleven in the first eleven Bundesliga matchdays. He never stayed on the pitch for more than 90 minutes. However, he did start all four matches in the Premier League.

For Leipzig to agree to a transfer, the transfer fee must be right – after all, their contract runs until the summer of 2025 – and the DFB Cup winners must also find a replacement in the position behind the strikers. Without standard and passing expert Forsberg and with the injury-prone Dani Olmo, this position would no longer be adequately filled despite Xavi’s brilliant performances to date

The New York Red Bulls had a disappointing season this year, finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference in the main round and losing to FC Cincinnati in the first round of the play-offs (7:8 i. E.). Only two players scored more than three goals for the season. So there would be plenty of need in the offensive department
