Formula 1 gets new commercial director

New structures in Formula 1: Emily Prazer takes on the newly created role of commercial director in the racing series, to further strengthen the USA focus

Formula 1 has expanded its management team and appointed Emily Prazer to the newly created role of commercial director of the racing series. The Brit will effectively succeed Brandon Snow, who held a similar role for Formula 1 until July 2023

Prazer’s tasks include maintaining and expanding commercial partnerships, and she is also responsible for Formula 1’s marketing and hospitality activities. Another important element is the US expansion of the racing series, which now has three Grands Prix in the United States of America alone.

Up to now, Prazer’s main focus had been on the USA: Also as commercial director, she had made a significant contribution to the development of the new Las Vegas city race from 2022, having moved from England to America specifically for this purpose.

And she will retain this role: Prazer is to continue to act for the Las Vegas project, in addition to her new, higher-level functions.

In the Formula 1 hierarchy, she reports to series boss Stefano Domenicali and works side by side with Duncan Llowarch (Head of Finance), Sacha Woodward Hill (Legal) and Liam Parker (Head of Communications), who all report to Domenicali.

What Prazer has done so far at Liberty Media

Prazer has a background in sports marketing and has been working for Liberty Media since 2017 in a managerial role. For example, she has been involved in the coordination and development of Grands Prix around the world from the very beginning and has thus established good contacts with the respective promoters.

An internal promotion followed in 2019: since then, Prazer has worked as Commercial Director for the development and promotion of the races. With her profile, she was in pole position when Formula 1 put together its staff for the preparation of the Las Vegas event. Prazer took up this new position in May 2022 and has been working with Race Director Renee Wilm on the success of the event ever since.

In her new position, Prazer is one of the most senior women in the Formula 1 organization.
