Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper plan the ultimate coup – the new Oceans prequel takes the duo into the glamorous world of Formula 1 in 1962
The new “Ocean’s” prequel starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper will be set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. The highly anticipated sequel to the Hollywood franchise will have a connection to Formula 1.
During a Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon, Margot Robbie, who will star alongside Bradley Cooper, explained that the heist movie is set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.
“Before Danny Ocean ever set foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows – his parents,” she said. “You’ll see them in their prime as they pull off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix in our new movie.”

In addition to his starring role, Cooper will write the screenplay and direct. While the film does not yet have a title, it is expected to be released in June 2027.
At this stage, there is not much more information about the production, but excitement is already growing among fans. One fan commented on Reddit: “It would be funny if they decided to repeat the diamond sponsorship from 2004”, referring to the promotional stunt for “Ocean’s 12” at the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix.
Jaguar Racing, which later became Red Bull, agreed a partnership with Steinmetz at the time to embed two giant diamonds in the nose of their Formula 1 cars, driven by Mark Webber and Christian Klien. Each diamond was worth around 200,000 pounds at the time.
Comes the diamond story?
Klien crashed into the crash barriers on the first lap of the race. His wreck was lifted by a crane and left on the side of the track until the end of the race. When the Jaguar mechanics were able to recover the car, the diamond had disappeared.
“This could be so good,” posted another fan on X, while someone else wrote: “Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in an Ocean’s prequel? Set in Monaco 1962? That already feels legendary.”
Other skeptical film fans, on the other hand, wondered what the purpose of the new film would be. “Danny Ocean’s parents – isn’t that a bit far-fetched? When did the last Ocean’s movie even come out, at least ten years ago?“ wrote one, and someone else also posted: ”Nobody asked for this.”
