Former technical director Dan Fallows will leave Aston Martin after he was recently transferred from the Formula 1 team to another role
Dan Fallows will leave Aston Martin for good and turn his back on Lawrence Stroll’s company. In November, he had already lost his post as technical director in the Formula 1 team and was given a different role in an affiliated department.
Fallows had joined Aston Martin from Red Bull in 2022, stepping out of the shadow of designer Adrian Newey, with whom he had worked at Red Bull. As with the Bulls, he had accepted the role of technical director to lead the technical department.
While Aston Martin started the 2023 season strongly, with Fernando Alonso taking six podiums in the first eight races, progress stalled and the 2024 car has seen the team fall back into the midfield.
This disappointing trajectory over the past 18 months, coupled with the signing of Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile, led to Fallows being relieved of his position last November.
He was subsequently given the role of chief engineer at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the team’s technology arm.
As part of a broader restructuring of the technical staff under new CEO Andy Cowell, former team principal Mike Krack is now taking on the role of Trackside Engineering Officer. Enrico Cardile, who was poached by Ferrari as Chief Technical Officer, will take over factory development once his leave of absence ends.
Both Krack and Cardile, who is expected to start in the summer, will report directly to Cowell, who has now also taken on the role of team principal.
When asked, Aston Martin said that Fallows “remains an employee”, but declined to comment further.
