Fix: Triumph returns to the Supersport World Championship in the 2022 season

Triumph combines the Moto2 engine with the fairing of the old Daytona and hopes for good results in the 2022 Supersport World Championship season

The new format of the Supersport World Championship is attracting Triumph to the series alongside Ducati. Triumph will be represented in the 2022 season by the PTR team of Simon Buckmaster, who has reached an agreement with Hannes Soomer. For the first time since the 2018 season, a Triumph will be represented in the mid-category field.

Soomer became the first rider from Estonia to take a podium in the Supersport World Championship in 2020. At the start of the 2021 season, the then Kallio rider broke his leg and was looking for his form after the incident.

This year he is on the Triumph instead of a Yamaha R6. “I trust in the potential of the bike and the experience of the team. I am sure we will find a way to progress quickly. The year brings new challenges with the new rules. That makes it unpredictable and interesting,” commented Soomer.

Team manager Simon Buckmaster has big ambitions: “Our goal has to be to be at the top and fight for podiums and the title. I think Hannes will surprise some people. Some already know his talent. Nevertheless, he will cause a surprise. “
