FIFA 23: These are the highlights of the Ones To Watch promo

Fifa 23 was released on Friday and opened the new game year directly with the first promo: Ones To Watch (OTW). We show you which cards are worth watching and who you can ignore.

In FIFA 23 EA SPORTS immediately comes up with the first promo and celebrates the transfers of the past summer. In the best tradition, the Ones-To-Watch cards open the hunt for the special items.

Summer transfers in focus

These are cards of players who have changed clubs in the summer and are now in focus according to the name and should be watched. The special thing about the items: They are dynamic, so they can improve in the course of the game. This happens with OTW cards when the player is voted into the team of the week or receives a man-of-the-match card.

But not only individual performances are taken into account: If the OTW player’s team wins three of the next eight league matches, regardless of his effort, he also receives a one-time upgrade. New for the World Cup year is that nations that will be represented in Qatar offer another opportunity for upgrades. If an OTW player’s country achieves a win at the World Cup, there will be another one-off upgrade – regardless of whether the player lines up or is even at the tournament.

The OTW Team at a glance

The first team of stars in focus includes greats like Robert Lewandowski or Sadio Mané. Naturally, however, the biggest focus is on the Premier League, which provides no less than five cards of the first OTW team. No other league can keep up here.

The highlights of the team are likely to be Erling Haaland, Sadio Mané and Antonio Rüdiger. Already equipped with excellent gold cards, a few upgrades could make them top performers even after the turn of the year. However, the price of the items is correspondingly high. Haaland currently costs a good 1.2 million coins on the consoles, Mané about 600,000 coins and Rüdiger 400,000 coins.

Nico Schlotterbeck is considerably cheaper. You can sign the new Dortmund player for just under 20,000 coins and thus possibly land a small bargain. Because at least team upgrades via BVB and the DFB eleven do not seem unlikely and would make the 22-year-old one of the best Bundesliga centre-backs.

Richarlison available for free

Also exciting: Darwin Nunez. Scoring for Liverpool FC since the summer, the Uruguayan combines pace and physicality. An extremely dangerous combination, as was shown in our first gameplay test. Although the 23-year-old costs 100,000 coins, as a goal-scorer he could certainly earn a place or two in the team of the week.

In addition to the players in packs, there is currently also an SBC for La Liga fans after the already expired Angel di Maria: Franck Kessié from FC Barcelona is available as an OTW item and is already one of the most rounded midfielders in the highest Spanish division as a gold card.

In addition, one of the new cards is even available for free – at least in monetary terms: In the tasks, you can currently earn the new Tottenham striker Richarlison and only pay for it with his time. As a Brazilian and an attacker for a top Premier League club, however, you should secure the 25-year-old if you can. His four-star skills and five-star weak foot make the man with the iconic dove cheer a dangerous option in any forward line.
