FIFA 22 Team of the Season: Plenty of Bundesliga for Community Voting

The big TOTS event in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT) is officially announced, the initial voting for the community selection starts today.

Some dates are marked a little thicker than others on FUT fans’ calendars every year. Among those time slots that are probably double and triple circled is mid-April to mid-June. During these two months or so, EA SPORTS hosts the Team of the Season (TOTS) event, which honours the strongest players of the season.

The starting signal for this holiday season already falls today at 7 pm. Then, traditionally, the community selection will start. You can vote on the EA SPORTS homepage. Find out who will be selected here:

While Lewandowski, Messi, Ronaldo and Co. are not yet eligible for this vote, some players from the Bundesliga or even the 3rd League are.

Ortega against prominent contender

A total of eight goalkeepers are in the running for the number 1 spot. The most prominent name is likely to be Hugo Lloris. The 2018 World Cup winner already has a solid standard card (87) – so should get an exceedingly good card with an upgrade.

From the Bundesliga with the start: Stefan Ortega. The Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper impressed with outstanding performances, especially last year. At that time, however, it was only enough for an inform card. Will he make it into the Team of the Season this year?

Federal League hat-trick for the defenders

Candidates for the team are Kevin Vogt (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim), Benno Schmitz (1. FC Köln) and Danilo (VfL Bochum). But they also have big-name competition, including Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte.

And another name catches the eye: Lacroix. However, it is not Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, but Leo Lacroix. The 30-year-old has recently joined Western United in Australia and has already collected four assists in 20 games. In FIFA, however, his silver card does not fall into the meta due to his slow pace (31). Maxence and Leo Lacroix are not related, by the way.

A midfield full of stars

Fans are spoilt for choice, especially in the midfield. Because here there are directly two lists – filled with stars. Whether Dani Parejo (FC Villarreal), Moses Simon (FC Nantes), Fred (Manchester United), Yannick Carrasco (Atletico Madrid) or Bayern’s Serge Gnabry. Gnabry and Carrasco in particular should have good chances of getting a place. In addition, they offer good connections as wing players, for example in the Gnabry-Lewandowski or Carrasco-Benzema combinations.

Both Bayern’s and Atletico’s wingers fit well into the meta and should enjoy great popularity with upgrades. Nicolas Höfler (SC Freiburg), Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen) and Niklas Dorsch (FC Augsburg) are also available from the 1st Bundesliga.

They are joined by Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (FC St. Pauli) and Luka Tankulic (SV Meppen). Kyereh is an absolute top performer for the “Kiezkickern”. In 26 games he scored ten goals and set up eleven. Tankulic may be Meppen’s top scorer with 13 goals, but he is not the 3. Liga leader. Magdeburg’s attacking midfielder Baris Atik is there with 18 goals and 18 assists. Therefore, this nomination or rather non-nomination is rather questionable.

Shooting star and European Championship semi-finalist

In FIFA 21 Luis Suarez was still represented in the Main Event – this year “only” in the community voting. The Uruguayan should be the favourite, but he will have to compete with Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) and Karim Adeyemi (RB Salzburg). Due to his high speed value (90), the shooting star of Salzburg offers a lot of potential.

An inform of the young international with improved values in the other areas was already popular. A TOTS card is likely to be even more coveted. The only problem could be the linking. Here Suarez is much better to exploit due to the league and club.

Who makes it into the team will be decided by the fans. The result will then be announced on 26 April.
