FC 24: How the places for the Esports World Cup are distributed

The unofficial eSports World Cup will take place in Riyadh this summer – including in FC 24. It has now been revealed how the places will be allocated. One thing is clear: the road ahead is rocky and potentially costly

The official world championship in EA SPORTS FC 24 – the FC Pro World Championship – takes place in Europe. Nevertheless, the title and publisher are also part of the Esports World Cup, which comprises various disciplines. A World Cup will also take place in Riyadh this summer, but it is not connected to the FC 24 Pro Circuit.

A total of 16 players will take part in the tournament in the soccer simulation. Eight of them come from the respective DreamHacks qualifying tournaments in Dallas and Jönköping. An opportunity to make a name for yourself as a free agent? Certainly. But it comes with a lot of competition and costs

Participation costs money – sometimes more, sometimes less

So an individual has to buy the three-day ticket with EA SPORTS FC add-on for DreamHacks. Converted, the former costs around 90 euros in Dallas and just under 45 euros in Jönköping. The price tag for the add-on is around 20 euros in both countries. So 110 and 65 euros respectively for admission and participation – but still excluding fees, taxes, travel to and from the event, accommodation and meals.

However, there is also a cheaper option if a group gets together. The three-day ticket for three to eight people, priced at just under 250 euros in Dallas and 117 euros in Jönköping, could then only cost around 30 and 15 euros per person respectively if the maximum number of people attend.

Once the tickets have been secured, one of the top places must be occupied in order to take part in the final tournament in Saudi Arabia. In Sweden, the top 6 out of 512 participants will make it to the unofficial World Cup, in Dallas the two best out of 256. The games will be played in a double elimination format. The DreamHack tournaments also have a prize money pool totaling 100,000 euros – although only the top 12 will be paid out.

In Riyadh, the field of participants will be expanded to include eight invited players. Two each come from South America and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), one each from Asia and Oceania. In addition, there are two invitations to players worldwide
