Ex-Schalker Platte scores double: Dortmund lose test against Paderborn

Marco Rose has been in charge of Borussia Dortmund for 100 days on Friday – and on his 99th day he had to record a 0:3 in a test match against second division side Paderborn. While Brandt should have made it 1:0 for BVB, the black and yellow defence allowed itself to be played down a little, especially in the second period.

Borussia Dortmund clearly lost a test match against SC Paderborn on Thursday without its internationals and without players such as Thomas Meunier (Belgium), Thorgan Hazard (Belgium) and Raphael Guerreiro (Portugal), who left with injuries. Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels as well as Youssoufa Moukoko, who are not fully fit, were also missing.
BVB, currently third in the Bundesliga with one point behind the top duo Bayern and Bayer, ultimately lost clearly 0:3 (0:0) to the third-placed team in the 2nd Bundesliga at the stadium on the training ground in Brackel.

Substitute Platte, the former Schalke player, was particularly motivated and scored a brace (78./90.). In between, wild card Prince Osei Owusu (87th) also scored for the ultimately deserved victory.

Schulze saves against Brandt

Deserved because the East Westphalians, coached by Lukas Kwasniok, had already created a few chances in the first 45 minutes and often took the gloves off BVB’s offensive with a tidy defensive performance. For the most part, very little was to be seen of players such as Can, who had been missing for weeks due to muscular problems, Wolf, Reinier or Brandt, who was not nominated for the DFB selection. Brandt, however, should have scored the 1:0 with the one big chance in minute 43. Keeper Schulze saved with a strong leg reflex and prevented the shot from going in.

And in the second half, in which there were many changes on both sides, the BVB team, which was also supplemented with youth players, didn’t come up with much – while defensively decisive mistakes happened.
