Everton’s Yannick Bolasie set to join Fenerbahce on loan

When Everton signed DR Congo’s Yannick Bolasie from Crystal Palace two years ago for €28.25 million, The Toffees thought they were getting a player they could  build around. The speedy winger, however, suffered a serious knee injury which ruled him out for over 12 months. He returned last year to make a total of 16 appearances in which he was only a shade of his old self.

New boss Marco Silva and new director of football Marcel Brands were asked to reshape the squad and get rid off the players they don’t need. Yannick Bolasie has been placed on that list and according to recent reports, a loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce is looming. The level of quality in the Turkish league might be nowhere near the one in England’s Premier League, but the Yellow Canaries can offer Bolasie something Everton can’t – Champions League football.

Their new manager Philip Cocu was brought to help Fenerbahce win the domestic title for the first time since 2014 and he’s looking to add pacey forwards. Yannick Bolasie fits the profile.

Yerry Mina Barcelona

Wayne Rooney (D.C. United) and Joel Robles (Real Betis) left the club on free transfers, Youngster Henry Onyekuru was loaned to Galatasaray, while Ramiro Funes Mori was sold to Villarreal for €9 million.

No players have been signed yet, as Marco Silva is still getting to know the squad and determining which players he wants to keep. The team has been in talks with Barcelona regarding the transfers of centre-back Yerry Mina and forward Paco Alcacer. Espanyol’s David Lopez is another centre-back they’ve shown interest in, as well as River Plate’s 25-year-old playmaker Gonzalo Martinez. Marco Silva is also eager to convince his former Watford players Abdoulaye Doucoure and Richarlison to join The Toffees.

Philip Cocu is also still evaluating his new team. Three minor additions have been made thus far, with big ones expected to come in the future. One of them is Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who would prefer to make last year’s loan move to Fulham permanent. However, Newcastle owns his rights and they might opt to sell outside the Premier League.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Dembele are two more players who share Cocu’s nationality and have been mentioned in Fenerbahce transfer news recently.
