Emergency foul: Viktoria’s Kapp banned for two games

The DFB Sports Court has banned Patrick Kapp for two games. The Viktoria Berlin professional was sent off in the 0:1 loss in Duisburg.

Kapp was the last man to foul Aziz Bouhaddouz in front of his own penalty area in the 55th minute after losing the ball to him shortly before. Referee Franz Bokop had then shown the red card for emergency braking – much to the displeasure of the visitors, for whom Christoph Menz, who had already been substituted, had seen yellow for protesting too loudly on the bench.

Now the DFB Sports Court has imposed a two-game ban on Kapp for unsportsmanlike conduct. The player and the club have already agreed to the verdict. The match ended 0:1 from Berlin’s point of view.

Kapp, who trained at TSG Hoffenheim and joined then-fourth-division club Viktoria Berlin in 2018 after a year with French side FC Sochaux, has started all 15 of their Drittliga matches this season. The 24-year-old centre-back scored two goals in the process.
