Eleventh new arrival: Nottingham Forest also sign Lingard

Premier League promoted Nottingham Forest continue to work hard on their squad for the coming season. Jesse Lingard, who has been out of the club for a while, is the eleventh new signing for the “Tricky Trees”.

Jesse Lingard will remain in the Premier League. The 29-year-old, whose contract at his boyhood club Manchester United had expired, joins Nottingham Forest. The promoted side thus beat out West Ham United and clubs from the US MLS, who had also shown interest, according to English media reports. The club did not give any information about the length of the contract.

Third stop in the Premier League

This will be the 32-time international’s third spell in the English top flight. In 2021, he played for West Ham United on loan for six months and impressed there. During his time with the Hammers, he scored nine times in 16 games. However, he was unable to match this performance after his return to the Red Devils. The homegrown player also played in 16 Premier League games in the past season, but never over the full distance. For this reason, ManUnited and Lingard, who has now found a new challenge with the promoted club, parted ways in the summer.

With the signing of the experienced attacking player (165 Premier League games), the “Tricky Trees” continue to upgrade – it is already the eleventh new acquisition in the current transfer phase. Previously, Nottingham had already struck twice in the Bundesliga this summer. Moussa Niakhaté and Taiwo Awoniyi moved to Forest for big money. For the former Union Berlin attacker, there will already be a reunion with his former colleagues this weekend – as Nottingham are guests at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei on Saturday.
