eFootball Championship Pro takes place with Bayern in June

Konami is back in eSports: The eFootball Championship Pro will kick off on 11 June, with FC Bayern Munich in the running for the title.

In April, Konami announced the eFootball Championship 2022, which represents the eSports comeback. It is the legitimate successor to eFootball.Pro, which was still held seasonally in the PES days. The first edition of the newly created tournament system will start in June.

FCB sends well-known trio into the race

The eFootball Championship is divided into a professional section and an amateur section – the eFootball Championship Pro and the eFootball Championship Open. The professional competition will feature the eSports teams of eight partner clubs, including FC Bayern Munich.

The German record champion had already participated in the eFootball.Pro League after founding the eSports team in December 2019. Munich will continue to be represented by the Spanish trio of José Carlos Sanchez Guillen, Alejandro Alguacil Segura and Miguel Mestre Oltra.

Top European clubs in eFootball

Among the competitors for the first title in the eFootball Championship Pro are some old acquaintances: Manchester United and FC Arsenal will compete from the island. FC Barcelona, AS Roma, AS Monaco, Celtic Glasgow and Galatasaray Istanbul will also be competing.

Unlike the eFootball.Pro League, the new competition will not be spread over months, but will come to a three-week showdown next month. The draw for two groups will take place on 4 June, with the group stage opening on 11 June.

Following the conclusion of the preliminary round on 19 June, the tournament will conclude on 25 and 26 June with the knockout phase, which will include quarter-finals, semi-finals, a third-place match and, of course, the grand final. The action will be broadcast on eFootball’s social media channels.

Open as a public competition part

The eFootball Championship Open is the public part of the system. Players from all over the world can play against each other on different consoles, and the World Finals can even be contested on mobile devices. The Open will be opened on 27 June, the finals will take place on 13 and 14 August.

Both branches of the eFootball Championship 2022 will be played in Dream Team mode. In-game content can be unlocked via some campaigns during the broadcasts, the promotions are partly also called by the clubs.
