eFootball 2024: Gameplay revised, exclusive clubs – but no champions league

eFootball 2023 has become eFootball 2024, the update to version 3.0.0 is complete. Konami has tweaked the gameplay, still holds exclusive licenses for some clubs – but doesn’t deliver a champions league.

I guess once again it couldn’t be avoided: Under the recent announcement for eFootball 2024 on X (formerly Twitter), comments again gathered asking about the Master League. The fans got an answer in the overview of the changes for the Konami simulation. The equivalent to the FIFA career mode is still missing, the community was partly dissatisfied. According to the developer, they have tried to implement feedback.

The changes to the gameplay were made “based on the different opinions we received through surveys and conversations with users”. The main focus seems to have been on the technical reaction time after the button is pressed. Especially in situations that required implementation in a matter of seconds, eFootball 2023 was probably often not able to keep up. After the update, more precise ball control should be possible.

Blocks and AI opponents will be improved

For the defensive side, Konami had been told that blocking was regularly unsuccessful despite matching position and input. New blocking moves will therefore be added and timing adjustments introduced in eFootball 2024. The goalkeepers, on the other hand, will receive fresh animations for fisting the ball, which should provide more realism in aerial duels in the penalty area.

Konami also claims to have improved AI opponents, with players making “more appropriate and timely decisions”. Boosters are integrated as a “brand new special feature”, with which certain player values can be improved and raised above the limit of 99. This is supposed to benefit the expression of individuality. Where the new ceiling for values lies will be seen.

Italy’s top and “Leo Messi Edition “

eFootball can also boast some exclusive licences for clubs in version 3.0.0 – mainly Italian clubs. Among them are the Serie A giants SSC Napoli, AS Roma, Lazio Roma and Atalanta Bergamo. Updated are “the kits, stadiums and squads of the partner clubs”, which still include FC Bayern Munich if they participate in EA SPORTS FC 24 in the VBL. Venues such as the Allianz Arena or the Spotify Camp Nou remain exclusive to the Konami title.

Lionel Messi is also a constant: the world champion remains the global brand ambassador. eFootball 2024 is also available for consoles and Windows in the “Leo Messi Edition” – this costs 20 euros. It offers the exclusive Messi Epic card with the new “Technique +2” booster. In addition, fans will receive ten highlight players, 300 eFootball Coins and eleven sets with 4,000 EXP for their money.

Mobile and Steam users, meanwhile, can access the “Premium Ambassador Pack: Leo Messi”. To kick off the new season, the Startup campaign has been launched, where players can unlock various rewards such as EXP, eFootball Coins or skill training programmes.
