Early exit for German

Tennis pro Yannick Hanfmann has crashed out of the ATP Masters in Cincinnati in the fastest possible way.

Tennis professional Yannick Hanfmann has failed in the ATP Masters in Cincinnati in the quickest way possible. The 31-year-old from Karlsruhe lost to local hero Mackenzie McDonald in the first round after 1:45 hours with 5:7, 1:6. Hanfmann, who had been eliminated in the last 16 in Hamburg and Kitzbühel, had to deal with the US American for the first time on the ATP Tour.

Since Daniel Altmaier (Kempen) had lost as a lucky loser to the Australian Alexei Popyrin in the tournament opener (7:6, 4:6, 4:6), Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is the last remaining German player in Cincinnati. The Hamburg native progressed with ease in a 6-2, 6-2 win over the experienced Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and will meet Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in round two on Wednesday.
