DTM Wins with Different Brands: Who Else Has Done This Besides Thiim?

First Lamborghini, now Aston Martin: Nicki Thiim is only the 17th driver in DTM history to win races with multiple manufacturers—who are the others?

Nicki Thiim pulled off a special feat during the recent DTM weekend at the Norisring: The 37-year-old son of DTM legend Kurt Thiim is only the 17th driver in the DTM’s more than 40-year history to have won races with more than one manufacturer.

Exactly two years ago, the Dane celebrated his first victory in the long-standing series in an SSR-Lamborghini during the Sunday race of the DTM at the Norisring, which already demonstrated his strength on the Nuremberg street circuit. This year, the Aston Martin works driver—who was behind the wheel of a Lamborghini back then thanks to permission from his employer—scored a one-two finish.

In the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, he secured two victories in a single DTM weekend on his favorite track with the “family,” as Thiim calls Aston Martin, even though he had to carry 20 kilograms of success ballast on Sunday.

But who are the other 16 drivers who have also managed to win with more than one brand—and who remained successful even after switching brands?

Fascinating: There’s even one driver who has won the DTM title with two different manufacturers. And drivers who have been victorious with more than two brands.

Incidentally, Thiim isn’t the only driver on the current starting grid who has celebrated victories with different manufacturers: There are two other drivers competing at the front this year who have proven their class in cars from different brands and triumphed in the process.
