Dresden riots: Police identify over 200 involved

Six months after the serious riots in Dresden, the police have identified 236 suspected perpetrators of violence.

The situation after Dynamo Dresden’s promotion to the 2nd league escalated half a year ago. Thousands of people had gathered on 16 May. Hundreds of violent fans attacked police officers with pyrotechnics, and bottles and stones flew. According to the police, 185 officers were injured, six of whom had to be hospitalised.

The police have now announced that 236 suspected perpetrators of violence have been identified.

The “Soko Hauptallee” expects to bring a three-digit number of cases to trial this year. A total of more than 600 suspected perpetrators of violence have been identified. All suspects are being investigated for aggravated breach of the peace and other offences.

Stadium ban against 103 suspects?

According to the police, the “vast majority” of the suspected rioters came from Dresden and the surrounding area. With the exception of five women, they were all men between the ages of 15 and 69. A stadium ban at Dynamo Dresden had been suggested against 103 suspects.

More wanted posters to follow

In recent months, the police had published four posters with a total of 80 suspected hooligans. In addition, 171 tips had been received from the population. 67 of the 80 people pictured were identified. Enrico Lange, head of the police investigation unit, announced that more wanted posters would follow.
