Novak Djokovic continues to take a break. The next preparatory tournament for the US Open will take place without the tennis star.
Tennis star Novak Djokovic will not be participating in the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. The US organizers confirmed a report to this effect by the website “The Athletic.” The 24-time Grand Slam champion from Serbia had already canceled his participation in the current tournament in Toronto, Canada.
This means that the 38-year-old Djokovic will not get any more match practice before the start of the US Open in just under three weeks. The star player last played on July 11 in the Wimbledon semi-final, which he lost to the eventual tournament winner Jannik Sinner (Italy). Djokovic had already been struggling with injury problems in London.
Sinner (23), currently number 1 in the world rankings, and his closest rival Carlos Alcaraz (22) will be back in Cincinnati. Both had also withdrawn from Toronto.
